Ultra Fine Mulch Description
Ultra Mulch for residential flower beds
The ultra-fine premium hardwood mulch from Forest Commodities is manufactured using only hardwood bark. It’s all natural with no additives. Because this is pure bark mulch without wood additives, it won’t rob your plants of nitrogen. We grind it more slowly, using our unique “Z” screens to produce the soft, fine woody covering that adds protection as well as charm to your landscaping. Ultra-fine mulch will not easily get washed away or moved around during the next rain storm. It protects plant shoots or newly planted shrubs, keeps moisture in the soil, and discourages weed growth.
Ultra Mulch colors
We offer our Ultra hardwood bark mulches in two color choices that will enhance your garden beds with a subtle, natural accent.

Aged mulch
We age all of our mulches properly, distributing them only when they’ve reached their peak color and texture. Since ultra-fine mulches break down more quickly than coarser ones, it’s important to make sure they’ve been aged properly so you get the maximum performance from your ground cover.
* What is a cubic yard?
A cubic yard measures 3 ft. x 3 ft. x 3 ft. A cubic yard of mulch will cover a 10 ft. x 10 ft. area, 3 in. deep. (3 in. is the recommended depth for spreading mulch.) So a good rule of thumb is to calculate the square footage of the area to be covered with mulch and divide by 100. For example, imagine you have a front porch with a flower bed on each side. Each side measures 15 ft. x 10 ft. (150 sq. ft.). The total area to be covered is 150 + 150 = 300 sq. ft. To calculate the number of yards of mulch required, divide that by 100. So you need 3 yards of mulch.
